Civil Disputes

“…committed to achieving cost-effectiveness as well as successful outcomes…”.

“Methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution … can often augment, or provide practical and cost-effective alternatives to, the traditional Civil Court system.”

Civil disputes can occur in every walk of life. Wherever there a consumer, business or even personal relationship, there is also the scope for things to go wrong or for arguments to arise.

It follows that there is a diverse range of fields in which our Civil Litigation Department can help clients to stand up for their rights. Here are some examples of cases with which we can help you:

• disputes about building work;
• land or boundary disputes;
• professional negligence cases;
• disputes about contracts or credit agreements;
• disputes about inheritance.

The firm holds the Legal Services Commission’s Specialist Quality Mark in Consumer Law and General Contract. We provide a Legal Aid service, headed by Sara Morris, for cases within that category.

Neil Richards, who heads the Civil Litigation Department, is a member of the Law Society’s Dispute Resolution Section, and the firm as a whole is committed to achieving cost-effectiveness as well as successful outcomes for its clients.

Methods of Alternative Dispute Resolution, such as mediation or arbitration, are a developing area of civil justice. They can often augment, or provide practical and cost-effective alternatives to, the traditional Civil Court system.

We will advise you if we think that such alternatives are in your interests in your particular case.

Whatever the nature of the problem, remember that we offer a free initial interview to discuss the options available to you. Please telephone, or see the details on our contacts page, to arrange an appointment.
